Ventures In Vans

Sometimes, the best pieces in your wardrobe are the ones you never thought you would own. Something a little different than what you always reach for. For me, recently, that was the Old Skool Sneaker by Vans. Even the word 'Vans' alone sounds like something that's not me in the least. Maybe it's because I grew up in a smaller city, with a little less diversity but the very thought of the brand brings nothing but white, teenage, skateboarders to mind (clearly not me).

But when I saw the Old Skools making a comeback in more stores, I loved them instantly for their simple colourways and look of ease. Let me tell you, putting them on only confirmed all of the above. I opted for the classic style because I liked the added detail of the white swipe, but I also really loved the Bloom Bloom version (textured detailing, available in two colours at Little Burgundy).

Putting aside the punk feels I originally had with them, they've actually become the perfect sneaker for daily wearing because they go with just about everything - which is key when striving for minimal. I paired them here with distressed ankle skinnies and a button down for a casual yet clean look, but have worn them with both jeans and classic tee, as well as a fitted midi dress as well.

Details: Vans Old Skool (Little Burgundy) | Button Down (Aritzia) | Cropped Black Denim (Gap) | Tote (old DKNY, similar).
And as usual you can find my collection of capsule looks on instagram or shop any instagram looks via ShopStyle.
